Hi,
I'm running LMS 8.3.1 in a docker container and want the connected players (several squeezelite instances) to be available as DLNA renderers, so I can play audio from my Android phone using LMS.
Unfortunately, the players are not discovered within my network. The plugin "UPnP/DLNA Media Interface (v1.0)" by Andy Grundman is activated.
I guess it may have to do with me running the LMS in docker without using host network.
Which ports are required for DLNA?
Any hints, how I can get this running?

Hello, I have been running Squeezebox server 7.5.5 on all three of my Squeezebox 3's. Should I bother upgrading to the latest version of Logitech Media Server 8.3.1? What is most stable for my SB3's?

Hardware gurus -
My trusty, rock solid for the last few years Duet is, all of a sudden, quite dead. It flashed a bright red set up light for a bit, and now the center button does nothing. Based on the amount of traffic I'm reading here about PS issues, I'm guessing that's what I'm dealing with, but another opinion or three would be welcome. It's not a crisis because I have SqueezePlay running on a Mac Mini in my main set up, and worst to worst, can bring my rPi out for receiver duties. But I hate just letting gear sit, not working, even though I'm not good at this stuff. Thoughts?

I just set up a new Ubuntu 22.04 (on amd64) server and set up two IP addresses. Most of the services (including LMS) are to run on one address; the other will be dedicated to pihole running on the same box.
I used the options --httpaddr 172.17.217.130 --cliaddr 172.17.217.130 --playeraddr 172.17.217.130 --streamaddr 172.17.217.130 in /etc/default/logitechmediaserver, and didn't get any errors.
However, my squeezebox radios worked oddly. They could not see the LMS server, though the server knew about them and could push some things to them. For instance, from the web interface, I could play music, but I could not turn them on and off. My Squeezebox classic was unfazed.
There has been a lot of discussion here over the years about servers with multiple addresses, but try as I might I could not glean any useful information: either why this doesn't work, or what a workaround might be.
The one hint I saw is to force the radios to treat the server as a remote library by entering the preferred IP address. I did not try this, though, being in a panic about my radios not working!
So is that the answer? Perhaps an additional note could be added to the docs for --httpaddr etc to make it clear that there is more that must be done for these options to really work right...

Hello All,
I have installed LMS on my qnap server (QNAP TS-230, Realtek RTD1296, 64-bit ARM) with a docker file and mapped the following hosts:container ports:
3483:3483 TCP
3483:3483 UDP
9002:9002 TCP
9000:9000 TCP
And installed the chromecast bridge plugin.
My problem is I can't see the chromecast in the same subnet. (there a.re two: a chromecast and chromecast audio)
The exact error is:
Configuration file missing - create one by clicking "generate" or, if autosave is on, refresh this page
/config/prefs/castbridge.xml remains empty even after clicking "Generate"
I selected "squeeze2cast-arm6hf" as the binary in the configuration page.
I see this in the console log:

I'm planning to move the persist.db file out of the cache folder into prefs or similar. IMHO it's not really cached data, it can't be reproduced from other sources. Therefore I believe it belongs else where.
I already asked some devs about their use of that database. But I wanted to ask here once more: are any of you accessing the file directly? Or are all of you simply accessing it through LMS' database connector? Because if you were using it from its location on disk, the change I plan to apply would break your code. I don't want this to happen.

No, it stores nothing in artwork.db.

If you go to the MAI settings you can define folders where to store the
artist pictures etc. I'd recommend you use that folder. But that would
then use the artist names to store the pictures. But they usually don't
vary much, so are simple to fix if needed.

No, the screensaver I was referring to would allow you to show a
slideshow of whatever pictures like a picture frame. Showing the playing
music's artwork should work as expected.

After the disastrous global update of most of my plugins I released a few weeks ago, I've been able to fix the known issues with the brave users that agreed to stay with me on bumpy road of the dev version. I'm planning to release my plugins again but, one by one this time, starting with CC bridge. I've also made a change so that if you have LMS older than 8.2, you can't upgrade to version 2.x. The reason behind is that I'm not releasing plugins anymore for outdated armv5te CPU that equips some NAS. It's unlikely that LMS has been updated to 8.2+ on these devices so although not perfect, this is a way to mitigate issue with user being caught by automatic updates.
Now, I would still like to run more tests and if more of you here could do tests with the dev version before I release it (in a couple of weeks probably), I would highly appreciate that. See here

Hi guys,
I have Synology NAS and I am running LMS in Docker, version 8.3.1. Recently, I have noticed (maybe 3-4 months back can't really tell exactly), that the receiver keeps disconnecting and reconnecting back and forth after maybe 5-10 minutes of playing. The disconnection does not last long, I would say maybe 30 seconds or so. The receiver is hardwired to my network switch and I have never experienced such a problem in the past. I did some very basic troubleshooting, like unplug from power and let it boot up, and I also have reloaded the LMS docker image but nothing worked.
So, I bought another used Logitech Duet to test it out....unfortunately, I am not able to even connect that one to my LMS Docker (that is another question which puzzles me, is there trick to that???).
I control the Duet either from the Duet control or my iPhone iPeng app, and within the app I see how the Logitech receiver disappears and comes back as disconnected player and gets connected again. I am running out of ideas where to look, what to try/test, but I would welcome any suggestion or advice. Maybe I have overlooked something or did not thought of some other troubleshooting method.
What is also weird, that there are not logs indicating the player being and getting disconnected :confused:
If anyone takes the time, and read this, and maybe could help pointing me to right direction I would really appreciate that.

Is this still the definitive list of tags imported by LMS or have additional tags been added since the list below was published?

Hi, I found an old Logitech speaker (
Logitech Laptop Speaker Z205) which connects (only) via USB to the computer to get power and the audio.
I checked the speaker: it's working and the sound quality is pretty good (for its size).
So I tried to get it working with pCP 8.1.0 ... but failed. After I set audio output to USB (and rebooted the Pi), I tried every of the 4 USB ports but don't get any audio.
I can see that the box gets power as its light glows but no audio.
Any idea what's wrong or what I have to do to get it working (or do I misunderstood audio=USB?).

I needed to isolate the ring main this morning, so threw the mains switch for ring main. When I had finished work my old SB2 didn't work. Looking at it, there was obviously power (Optical out lit up) and after waiting a while it was recognized by LMS.
So it looks like the display has died somehow - anyone had this before? Any ideas?
Obviously it still send music out, and I mainly control what I play via the PC, but I am worried that at some point it will power up and not find an IP address - which has happened, and I lack the ability to go through the screen menus.
Any help to keep my much loved SB2 going would be appreciated. Many thanks

PS - the IR Receiver, which is in the display board, is still OK, so board must still be powered.

Hi - if I turn my SB3 on at the mains it successfully connects to the WiFi but then powers off, and I have to tell it to power on which it does immediately. How do I get it to stay on? I have another SB3 which does stay on and I can't see any differences in the settings. The only vaguely relevant setting I can see is Player->Audio->Power on Resume which is set to "Pause at Power off / Resume at power on" and this is the same for both SB3s.
FWIW I am running LMS 8.3.0 on a Pi4 which is left on at all times.
Any ideas?

Hi everybody,
I couldn't find anything in the forum about the possibility to parse the "comments" tag contents (ID3 comment tag or iTunes comments field) ; fo r example I use this filed to write personnel or a record session, divided by a comma: e.g/ Chet Baker, Stan Getz, etc..
Is there anyway to make LMS parsing the contents of this filed and add them to "all artists", or is there a plugin to do so, or doesn't that make any sense at all (fro some reason that I'm missing..) ?

After being a long-time LMS / SB user (SB2, Duet, SB Radio, SB Boom, and SB Touch), I FINALLY picked up a Transporter that I found on CL near me.
This has interrupted my experimentation with various RPi-based players in conjunction with a Digi out hat playing to a Tone Audio DAC. Effective, but ugly and unwieldy.
I've got to say that the Transporter sounds fantastic and now that I've spent a little time updating my LMS implementation with Material Skin, it feels pretty modern as well! I still need to get MusicIP + Sugarcube up and running so I can have a replacement for my Plexamp server - I really like the auto DJs they built in.
Am I crazy to buy something so long in the tooth? Not sure, but it sounds good to me and has been a fun project.
Besides, my amp is a 1975 Luxman, so I guess by comparison, this is spring-chicken technology!

I'm a longtime owner of SB devices. I bought a used Boom on Ebay for a bedroom in a second home. The power socket seems to be loose and the slightest movement of the unit breaks the power connection and it turns off. I will try to tape the cord in place to make it more physically stable.
I'm thinking about getting another SB device to be a spare for a backup, I see that used SB Radios are more available and less expensive than Booms. I presume the SB Radios have mono sound (one speaker?) but how otherwise does the sound quality compare? The SB device in this location is only for casual and occasional music use (not at high volume) and as an SB alarm.
Do those of you who have an SB Radio think it would be suitable in a bedroom and would I find the use and listening experiences reasonably comparable to a Boom? In addition to Touches and even SB3s that I've had connected to better sound systems over the years, I've had a Boom in the kitchen of my primary home for >10 years and I'm quite familiar with them. I never did buy a Radio when they were being produced.

Looks like the platform is undefined for "strings..bin", and the cleanup code is not accounting for platform variations.
Maybe there are other locations that are not correct.

Scanner Priority is set to -20 and rescans initiated by LMS are with --priority=-20, however looking at the scanner.pl process using HTOP it's running at 20? Should scanner.pl's priority no be -20 when set accordingly in LMS?
