Looking for some help for life after Squeezebox Touch

Hello- I have a Squeezebox Touch that has been the controller for my music library since well, before squeezebox Touch was discontinued. It's clear that through PiCorePlayer and the options described here, that I'm not out of luck should my Touch die. I have a music library of roughly 1.5 TB, mostly Apple Lossless and mp3 320 files. My front-end interface (managing the library) is ITunes. So my question is, should I just keep humming along until my system dies, or is there a way to update and optimize, without losing the type of interface and functionality I have now. I do have a computer/tech person I work with, who I can point in this direction... although he's not familiar with PiCorePlayer.
