I recently purchased a HiFiBerry DAC 2 HD HAT for one of my RPi players. This is their newest hi-end card.
I put it on my RPi 4 player which runs PCP 6.1. In the Squeezelite setup, there is an option for this card which I selected. The player played music but the volume was sustantially lower when compared to USB out to a DAC as well as the HFB DAC+ Pro and Standard HATs. I tried several different settings and nothing changed. With the volume set at 100%, the volume is just moderate, a sound level previously achieved at a 65% or 70% volume setting. I also moved the card to a RPi 3B+ with no change.
At the suggestion of HiFiBerry support, I tried the card with their OS. This immediately fixed the problem. It appears there is something in PCP's Squeezelite settings for this card that need further tweaking. I would like to use this card with PCP on my RPi with a screen so I use Jivelite, but will have to wait until this issue is addressed.
