First check permissions.

Can you confirm your state folder would have three sub-folders cache,
logs, and prefs?

Make sure you have a backup of those folders first. Then try to wipe the
..db files, just to see whether the prefs were sane. And/or remove the
dbsource entry from the server.prefs file.
