They still are supported of course. But a.) there have been no updates
to those firmwares in about a decade - I can't imagine there still are
players out there running an outdated firmware. And b.) LMS would
download them on the fly if needed anyway. The errors you saw actually
came from that download mechanism which wanted to check whether an
update was available.
