Constantly having to uninstall reinstall LMS

What would make you believe you'd have to re-install? Would a restart
not be good enough?

Did you see the discussion around Catalina and some of its changed
behaviour? With external disks you sometimes have to give LMS special
permissions to access all disks. See eg.
